Outlander-Themed Photo Session and Glencoe Adventure: Capturing Magic in Scotland

Scotland is a place of history, stunning landscapes, and a touch of magic—especially for an Outlander fan. When my best friend Alexandra visited for the first time, we planned an Outlander-themed photo session to make the trip even more memorable. Naturally, we started at Midhope Castle—known to fans as Lallybroch, Jamie Fraser’s family home.

Lallybroch: A Step Into the Past

We had planned this session weeks in advance, and finding the perfect dress was part of the fun. The dress gave Alexandra a timeless look, making her feel as though she truly belonged in another era.

Visiting Midhope Castle was surreal. As an Outlander fan, Alexandra was thrilled to walk through the familiar setting, imagining the world of Jamie and Claire. The castle's quiet charm made it the perfect spot to begin our day. Photographing her here felt effortless, with every moment filled with her excitement and connection to the place.

Up to the Highlands: Glencoe Adventure Photoshot at the Wee White House

From Midhope, we headed to Glencoe, one of Scotland’s most iconic landscapes, for the second part of our adventure. The drive itself was spectacular, with dramatic peaks and valleys leading us to the Wee White House—a small, picturesque cottage that feels like something out of a storybook. This Glencoe adventure photoshoot was the highlight of the day.

As we started capturing the autumnal beauty of the Highlands, a light drizzle began to fall. Instead of dampening the mood, it made the session even more magical. Alexandra embraced the rain, and the soft mist added a cinematic touch to every frame. By the end, we were soaking wet and freezing cold, but we couldn’t stop laughing at how worth it the experience was. The rain became part of the story, making the portraits feel even more connected to the rugged beauty of Scotland.

A Day to Remember

The session wasn’t just about the photographs; it was about soaking in the moment together. Between shots, we laughed, had a feast with a scottish breakfast, admired the scenery, and talked about how much Scotland has to offer. Watching my bestie experience it all for the first time made it even more special.

There's no way you cannot love being a Scotland photographer! It’s not just about capturing beautiful pictures but about preserving memories—like this day filled with history, autumn colors, a touch of rain, and the joy of sharing Scotland’s magic with someone you care about.
